Albania 2019 - Earthquake emergency

Emergency logistics

25/04/2019

After the 26 november 2019 earthquake and answering to a request of the Albanese Ministry of Health and Civil Protection, on december 2nd we left from our Carrè headquarters to go to Brindisi and catch a ferry to Vlora to bring a mobile clinic. In it, R-for-Africa volunteer doctors offered medical care in the area between Tirana and Durres.

Our experience is put at the service of solidarity

Thanks to our logistics experience and to the close collaboration with Rainbow-for-Africa, with whom we partner on a number of projects, we were able to quickly respond to the needs to the victims of the earthquake. Our volunteers, capable and determined, made a careful check of the clinic on our premises. R4A doctors joined us and we swiftly left for Tirana.

Objectives achieved

The rescue camp was set up in little more than an hour. The mobile clinics can be employed for medical examinations and for minor surgery when needed; and the inflatable tent is a useful annex.

We donated a caravan to a family that the earthquake had left homeless.

What you can do to help

There are many ways to support us, all of which are important for us and for those we meet in our journeys.
